With reference to the notification received from the Indian Nursing Council to celebrate the World Hypertension Day, activities related to the day were organized by the 4th year B.Sc. (N) students with the support of the Community Health Department.
On May 24th, the students assisted by the teachers conducted a complimentary blood pressure screening camp at the Kasarkod brick factory. A total of 15 workers were present during the camp, and their blood pressure measurements were taken during their tea break. Free blood pressure monitoring for the staff and students of St Ignatius Nursing college was held on the same day in the afternoon.
On May 25th visits were made by the 4th year B.Sc students to the Geriatric patients at Sandhya Dham and Ozanna Old Age Home at Kallianpur, Udupi. Blood pressure screening was held for the patients. Also blood pressure screening was held for the general public at Honavar Bus-stand on 28.05.2024 and Railway Station on 29.05.2024. Mass health education was imparted to the public gathered, conductors and drivers.
The blood pressure screening initiative at St. Ignatius Hospital attracted 67 participants. Also awareness was given to the people about Hypertension through Social Media and Instagram.
