The School of nursing focused on the need to train and educate female population belonging to the various cross section of society. The nursing course offered by the St. Ignatius Institute of Health Sciences aimed to meet not only the diverse health needs of the local people, but also to train individuals to impart quality health care to the entire nation. Our alumni are well placed today in Government and Non- Government settings at various parts of India and Abroad.

The nursing profession is profoundly affected by population parameters, illness pattern, health care administration, advancement in technology and science and bio-socio-ecological environment of the society.

The changing pattern of health care delivery in and around the globe and the shortage of health care manpower including nursing, has increased the complexity in all practice environment. Keeping in view, the changes within the nursing profession and the developments in nursing education and practice sectors, as well as moved by the experience of the success of establishing a School of Nursing, the Foundress of this Institution Rev. Sr Maria Goretti, SRA boldly took a step to start the B.Sc. Nursing Degree Programme in the year 2010, with an intake of 40 to begin with. The year 2014, marked the beginning of the Post Basic B. Sc. Nursing programme. In the year 2018, Enhancement of B.Sc. Nursing seats from 40 to 60 was permitted by the Govt. of Karnataka, Karnataka State Nursing Council & Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

Every year 50 GNM students successfully completed the course with 100% result. Our alumni are well placed today in Government and Non- Government settings at various parts of India and Abroad.
